Minutes, IBIS Quality Task Group 26 October 2021 12:00-13:00 EST (09:00-10:00 PST) ROLL CALL ANSYS Curtis Clark Intel Technology Michael Mirmak Micron Technology * Randy Wolff Signal Integrity Software: * Mike LaBonte Teraspeed Labs: * Bob Ross Zuken USA: * Lance Wang Everyone in attendance marked by * NOTE: "AR" = Action Required. -----------------------MINUTES --------------------------- Mike LaBonte conducted the meeting. Call for IBIS related patent disclosures: - None Call for opens: - None Review of previous meeting minutes: Minutes from the October 19, 2021 meeting were reviewed. Lance Wang moved to accept the minutes. Randy Wolff seconded the motion. Without objection, the minutes were approved. ARs: - AR: Mike LaBonte to create server folders for IBISCHK 3 through 6 Mike had sent the request to the webmaster. - AR: Bob Ross to upload prior IBISCHK source code distributions Bob was waiting for the new folders to upload into. NEW ITEMS: New parser bug reports: Bob Ross reported there two new bug reports, which were reviewed. BUG225: The bug was about an IBIS-AMI case with mismatching List and List_Tip, with no message from IBISCHK. Bob said the usage was explicitly prohibited. He recommended deferring the fix until after the current parser release. Randy Wolff asked why we allowed duplicated values in List entries. Mike said one use was copying a default value to the front of the list. In the bug case, List_Tip allowed users to choose from DDR specification numbers, and two of those mapped to the same value. Bob said the bug had existed for some time but had not impacted anyone until now. He had tested prior IBISCHK versions and verified that the problem was never caught. BUG226: In this bug, IBISCHK was silent in a case where parameters had been specified for a Touchstone model in IBIS-ISS. Bob said the developer had reported the bug. It was not known if it had already been fixed, but that was likely. That would be tested. Bob said the bug should be fixed in the current release. IBISCHK710 development: Bob Ross reported we had received source code. Mike LaBonte showed a document with new message strings and ones that have changed. There were a good number of new messages. Mike said there were typos in the message strings for IMSMDL_ERR_84, EMDSET_ERR_23, EMDSET_ERR_61, EMD_ERR_29, and CMODEL_ERR_24, most of them involving "specified". Some messages had contractions like “alloc” and “Mdl”. We agreed those should be fully spelled out as "allocated" and Model". Randy Wolff said "cross-talk" also should be "crosstalk". Mike felt they should be easy changes to make. Randy said that it had been helpful that development took place in parallel with the final editing of IBIS 7.1. AR: Bob Ross to ask for IBISCHK message string fixes Bob said the payment for parser development should be made in 2021, which would require accepting the work. Mike asked if the ratification of IBIS 7.1 would happen soon enough to allow us to wait for that to approve the code. Bob said he preferred to pay before ratification. Mike agreed. Bob said we could release the source code to licensees upon acceptance of the work. Randy said an acceptance vote could potentially be held November 19. We discussed whether a roll call would be required. Bob and Mike felt acclamation would suffice. Bob noted that the expenditure had already been approved by a roll call vote. He felt there was a good chance we would not be ready to hold an acceptance vote November 19, because we had to receive new code with a few more fixes, and then perform checking. AR: Bob Ross to check IBIS QA tests AR: Mike LaBonte to test new IBISCHK executables Tabled topics (no discussion without motion): - BIRD181.2 - IBISCHK security fixes Bob Ross moved to adjourn. Lance Wang seconded. Without objection the meeting ended. Meeting ended: 12:57 ET Next meeting November 2, 2021
